Pick-up of the rental car at Trieste airport, arrival in Aquileia and free time for lunch. "The second Rome" so Aquileia, in the province of Udine (Friuli-Venezia Giulia) has been defined for the many remains and archaeological finds brought to light here, but not only. In the afternoon meeting with the local guide with whom we will visit the open-air archaeological museum declared a Unesco World Heritage Site. Aquileia preserves numerous remains of Roman times such as the Forum and the Via Sacra but the focus is represented by the Patriarchal Basilica where there is a floor mosaic that with its 750 square meters is the largest in the Western Christian world.

At the end, transfer to the hotel in Monfalcone. Free dinner and return to the hotel for overnight.

Day 2: Monfalcone, Gorizia and Cividale

Breakfast at the hotel and transfer to Gorizia on the river Isonzo, scene of bloody clashes during the First World War. We recommend a visit to the Medieval Castle (from which you can enjoy an enchanting panoramic view of the Collio), the Cathedral and the beautiful Baroque church of San Ignazio. Free lunch and in the afternoon transfer to Cividale del Friuli capital of the first Lombard duchy in Italy included by UNESCO in the World Heritage. Let’s start discovering the city with a local guide, crossing the river Natisone on the Devil’s Bridge and starting from the heart of its historic center, Piazza del Duomo. Visit the Longobard Temple and the Christian Museum in the Duomo with the famous Ara di Rachtis and the Baptistery of Callisto.

Return to Monfalcone for free dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Monfalcone, panoramic tour of Trieste + Miramare Castle and Redipuglia

Breakfast at the hotel and departure for Trieste. The most cosmopolitan city in Italy, where you can breathe in the glorious Habsburg past and in the intersections of languages, peoples and religions that still characterize it, you can easily understand its soul together Central European and Mediterranean. Nestled in the north east of Italy, embraced by green hills on one side and the Mediterranean Sea on the other, with the snowy Dolomites to the north. No other city can claim to possess a more majestic landscape in a unique location among the Latin, Germanic and Slavic lands. The tour will take you to the castle of Miramare, located on the tip of a promontory overlooking the sea. The castle is surrounded by a beautiful park with valuable botanical species where you can relax. This noble residence, built between 1856 and 1860, was commissioned by the archdukes Ferdinand Maximilian of Habsburg and his wife Charlotte. Duration: 2 hours. Ticket included. Free lunch and in the afternoon transfer to Redipuglia for a free visit to the Monumental Military Cemetery that contains the remains of over 100,000 Italian soldiers who died during the First World War. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 4 - Lake Bled and Ljubljana Tour from Trieste

Breakfast in the hotel and a day dedicated to the visit of the charming old town of Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, and Bled, a popular tourist destination considered one of the most beautiful alpine places and also known as the pearl of the Alps. Ljubljana, the capital and largest city of Slovenia, is the cultural, educational, economic, political and administrative center of the country. It is renowned for its rich history, which is reflected in the unique architectural heritage. Its old town is surrounded by the Ljubljanica Castle and the Ljubljanica River, where the atmosphere of the city is best perceived. During the trip you will encounter examples of ancient and modern architecture. You will visit the old town, where you can admire the works of the Slovenian architect Jože Plečnik, who played an important role in the design of the most famous bridges, squares and parks in Ljubljana. In just over three decades, Jože Plečnik transformed Ljubljana from a provincial city into the capital of the Slovenian nation and remodeled the urban part of the city. Its influence can be grasped anywhere, but especially along the Ljubljanica River. During the trip, you will visit some of the most interesting buildings and monuments, such as the Ljubljana City Hall, the triple bridge, the Shoemakers' Bridge, the cathedral, the Robba fountain, Prešeren Square, Congress Square and other attractions. The symbol of the city is the Ljubljana dragon. It is reproduced on the top of the tower of the castle of Ljubljana and stands above the Ljubljanica, on the bridge of the Dragons. The alpine town of Bled is one of the oldest and most beautiful tourist destinations in Slovenia. Its main attraction is the lake surrounding the island of Bled. The islet has several buildings, the main is the Gothic church of Santa Maria Assunta. The church has a wishing fountain and is often visited by newlyweds and other guests. Lake Bled will surely leave you speechless, as it offers various sports activities and is a place where you will spend the most romantic moments of your life. During the trip, you will walk around the lake enjoying the fresh alpine air and watching the swans and ducks play. You can also admire the Bled castle, built on top of a cliff above the glacial lake and, according to written sources, the oldest in Slovenia. Finish the tour by admiring other local monuments, then refresh yourself with a delicious Kremšnita cake with vanilla cream and cream. You can also take beautiful pictures of the lake, the island, the castle and the nearby Alps. Duration: 2 hours.

Monfalcone - Udine - Trieste

Breakfast at the hotel, check out and departure for Udine. Morning dedicated to a free visit of the city. We recommend visiting the Castle of Udine, in the hills, houses several museums and an art gallery with works of Tiepolo and Caravaggio and offers views of the city and the surrounding mountains. The central Piazza Libertà is home to Renaissance buildings, including the Loggia del Lionello, in pink and white marble, and a clock tower.
